harvest
01:58
|
|||
so long
seeds inside the stomach
sprouting towards the summit
they were sent from
so long
pit inside the pocket
rotting for the rocket
it abandoned
so long
flame beneath the furnace
that isn't even burning
at all
so long
time under the carpet
this rock that's ripe for harvest
so long

perspective
02:32
|
|||
i'm spitting at the sky
a paradigm that won't reply
a hollow human paradise
that holds me
i'm ditching the disguise
no heaven left to satisfy
no picture painted by the blind
and holy
i'm living in a line
to buy what wasn't advertised
the pulling of the parasite
that sold me
i'm spitting at the sky
a paradigm of my design
a box i built but can't defy
that holds me
(there was no gravity
i was floating
they stood me in front of a machine
i don't know what it was doing
all i remember is the weight of everything coming back to me
and then there's just a blur)
i'm ready to resign
perspective is a compromise
the little space between my eyes
is lonely

cortisone
01:43
|

investing
in insect dreams
is overrated
expecting
and introspecting
is so inflated
my backbone
is so deflated
and all my cortisone
is so belated
let me underground
let me under

physicality
01:27
|
|||
your body is an object, your mind is a disease
your spirit is a garden growing garbage into trees
this physicality a home where heaven leaks
your planet is a marble that's been shackled to your feet
a rude reality, the lure of gravity
your body is a birdcage that doesn't let you sing
this physicality

distance
02:05
|
|||
take one for the road
it's plentiful and perfect
and you didn't even earn it
to star in the show
take one for the road
it spirals through the center
but i'm not allowed to enter
this hell is my home
take one for the road
impure in its intention
unholy intervention
that only erodes
take one for the road
do you see me in the distance?
i'm seeing so clearly in spite of the valley

molecule
01:48
|
|||
there's a layer of dust around the crust of me
functionally in tune
with the specks in the empty space vibrating
civilization's womb
every part of me was once everything
every centimeter was beauty
every part of you has been everywhere
every molecule is a painting
we will rest our heads on the guillotine
we will rest our heads
there's nothing left for this world to be
there's nothing left that it can be

it's nothing new
that's how it always was
[drive me home please]:
[i had a dream that i was in my grandparents old house
they had a door there that was half the size of me
i had a dream and you were there and it was comfy
i dreamt i was in love again and when i woke up it was true
but dreams are nothing new and the hardest part is
i know that’s how it always felt, that’s how it always was]
that's how it always was
i had a dream i caught a glimpse of my reflection
and my mouth was hanging open, my eyes were swollen shut
i had a dream and in it you were still in love
and i woke up

symmetry
02:12
|
|||
i'm at the gas station cleaning the ashes (fragments of cigarette habits) from the backseat into the trash heap.
i met you at fourteen, pre-nicotine-between-my-teeth. our dreams were sweet: two art degrees in the city.
in the car there i found you:
- a pack of your tissues (the kind that you'd always keep with you)
- an orange mechanical pencil
i tremble.
that's the type of pencil you used to write all the letters in the drawers that i don't open anymore and the labels of mix CDs you gave to me on Valentine's day when i was seventeen, still inside my trunk next to the pamphlet from the art school i dropped out of.
what more can i say?
there's symmetry in pain too hard to explain.
